A twin cylinder, slide valve engine built by Robey & Co., Lincoln, in 1902, Nos 22110 and 22111.
The engine was working, until 1981, at the Silica Firebrick Company brickworks at Friden in Derbyshire. The flat belt drive provided power for a variety of machinery such as:- grinding mills, jaw crushers, conveyor belts, dust fans etc.
This was amongst the first engines to be acquired by the museum. Prior to that it was in the possession of the Cromford Canal Society, which I understand is now disbanded.
